The Cursor vs. The Mouse Pointer

Beginners often confuse the blinking cursor ( l ) and the mouse pointer ( I ).

The Cursor

The blinking cursor shows the spot where text will be added or removed in a Word document.

The Mouse Pointer

The mouse pointer is a display tool to show the user where the mouse is on the screen

Pay close attention where these two displays are in your document. The mouse pointer can be in an area that is different from where the cursor is, resulting in text not added where you want it or text that was deleted by mistake.
