Open Microsoft Excel and you see worksheet gridlines, and labels that identify each row and column. Print Microsoft Excel and you may see nothing but the numbers themselves. No gridlines. No row and column headings. What happened?
Gridlines Settings
Microsoft Excel has two different settings for gridlines and row/column headings; Window options that display gridlines from the screen, and the Print options that print the gridlines.
Window Options
The Window options are preset to display gridlines and headings for each row and column. These settings may be changed with the following commands:
· Click Tools
· Click Options
· Click the tab labeled View
· In the Window options section, uncheck the Gridlines and the Row and Column Header boxes. Grids and headings are gone.
Print Options
Microsoft Excel will not automatically print a worksheet with gridlines, and headings for each row and column. You must change the Print options by check marking the Gridline and Row and Column Header boxes. The following steps are:
· Click File
· Click Page Setup
· Click the tab labeled Sheet
· Click Print Gridlines
· Click Row and column headings
· Click the OK button
· Go to Print Preview and verify the Gridline and Row and Column Headings are visible
Hope this helps. See you in the next lesson.
